American Education Week

P R O C L A M A T I O N

Whereas, America’s schools form the foundation of our democracy, providing each new generation the wherewithal to serve as stewards for our nation’s precious values of freedom, civility, and equality; and

Whereas, schools are the primary influence in children’s lives aside from their families; and

Whereas, by equipping young Americans with both practical skills and broader intellectual abilities, schools give them hope for and access to a productive future; and

Whereas, schools are community linchpins, bringing together adults and children, educators and volunteers, business leaders and elected officials in a common enterprise; and

Whereas, the employees of the Richmond Community Schools work tirelessly and transparently to serve our children and community with care, professionalism, integrity, and the highest expectations; and

Whereas, all efforts of the employees and all the resources of the organization are committed to the academic success of each student in every classroom, every grade level, and in every subject area; and

Whereas, there is nothing more crucial to the social and economic health and the future of our community and nation than education,

Now, therefore,

We, the Board of School Trustees for Richmond Community Schools

Do hereby proclaim November 13 to 19, 2011 as

American Education Week
