Hopefully our nurses already know how much we appreciate them throughout the year, but let’s give them some extra special attention this week, May 6-12. Regardless of their role in our schools, nurses "educate, councel, advocate, and...

Paul C. Garrison Elementary

Garrison serves kindergarten through sixth graders in a rural setting south of the city limits.  An experienced faculty provides a warm and nurturing environment for students to master state expectations.  Working together, our special and general education teachers monitor student growth and respond to individual needs using effective instructional strategies. The Townsend Cabin, located on school grounds, provides the centerpiece for annual Cabin Days in the fall featuring a Family Literacy Night.  We also host a Winter Literacy Night that includes the Starlab and a Spring Literacy Night in April.

             MISSION STATEMENT

" Building Knowledge, One Log at a Time!"

¡Contruyiendo conocimiento, un estudiante a su tiempo!

GARRISON SCHOOL PLEDGE

Each morning after we Pledge Allegiance to the Flag, we also have undertaken and recite together the Garrison School Pledge. It goes like this:

    To Garrison School,
    We pledge today
To be honest, fair, and true.
And to do the very best we can,
    In everything we do.

We hope the students will learn this pledge and take seriously the words both in and out of school.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION SUPPORT      MOP/AAAA

Garrison follows the behavior expectations of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, HONESTY, CARING, and SAFETY.  Each week we focus on one expectation through the morning announcements that includes PROJECT WISDOM; a daily motivational story.  We include the MOP rules and the 4 A's to our school wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support Plan. Please ask your children to tell you all about this!

TOYOTA ROAD TO SUCCESS READING PROGRAM

Each week our students are encouraged to read and record their reading time in their Road to Success folder.  Parents support their children by reading with them each night and then signing their folders.  Students who read 5-7 days a week receive 1-2 entry tickets.  The tickets are collected in a hopper located at the front entrance.  Every 8 weeks, student names are drawn for prizes with the big prize of a bicycle given to a lucky reading winner.  We thank Toyota for sponsoring this program and to all the local businesses that donate prizes each quarter to encourage our students in reading every day.
