Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)

This course is designed for 9th and 10th grade students.  The major focus of IED is to teach students the design process, research and analyis, teamwork, communication methods, global and human impacts, engineering standards and technical documentation.  Students us 3D modeling software to help them design solutions to problems.

 

Principals of Engineering (POE)

This course exposes students to concepts they will encounter in a postsecondary engineering course of study.  They develop problom-solving skills and apply their knowledge of research and design to create solutions to challenges.  They work with their peers and the community. 

 

Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA)

Students apply what they have learned to the design and development of a property.  Working in teams, students work with hands-on activities and projects to learn the characteristics of civil engineering and architecture.  Students use 3D design software to help them design solutions communicating their solutions to their peers and members of the professional community.  this course is designed for 11th and 12th grade students. 

 

Biotechnical Engineering (BE)

The focus of this course is for students to learn about the diverse fields of biotechnology including biomedical engineering, molecular genetics, bioprocess engineering, and agricultural and environmental engineering.  Lessons engage students in engineering design problems related to biomechanics, cardiovascular engineering, genetic engineering, agricultural biotechnology, tissue engineering, biomedical devices, forensics and bioethics.  Students, usually in 11th and 12th grade, apply biological and engineering concepts to design materials.
